This month, I was entirely uninspired about what to write for my blog. Normally, my creative endeavors start with a spark, and quickly outgrow kindling and burn brightly until completion. And while I do not profess to be an expert at writing, or social media, or any artistic pursuits, inspiration usually comes easily. Typically excitement around my process builds, and I get so enthusiastic by the end that I physically cannot wait to share my ideas.
This month wasn’t like that at all. This month my passion was all devoted to my clients and building my business. I dove deeply into creating instagram reels, developing important spreadsheets and structure for my clients, and driving growth for the salon partners I work with. My passion is, and has always been, to help business owners in becoming stronger, and more successful through education and support. This month, i was fully focused on that passion, and was so excited to celebrate with my clients when our plans were enacted as designed, and helped them reach the next level of organization and success!
But none of it provided inspiration for a blog post.
Often I get inspired by things I'm doing that are not directly related, or a part of my work responsibilities. This month I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with my littles, attend a music festival, camp with my extended family, plant and tend to my vegetable garden. I read, found a new list of engaging podcasts, the list goes on. By nearly all metrics, I had a great month!
But still, the inspo just never arrived.
It feels a little like not wanting to cook after you just got home from the grocery store. You’ve got all of the food, plenty of great stuff to gain inspiration, and a hungry crowd waiting to be nourished. And yet, nobody wants to cook right then. I will say, that when I get home from the store, and don’t feel like cooking, I don’t starve, I order takeout.
In many ways, I am takeout for my clients. I have been the Uber Eats they’ve needed after a full day, or week, or month of serving their guests, they may be missing the drive to cook for themselves. In this case, they may be lacking the energy required to develop a leadership role for an ambitious stylist, or reevaluate their pricing model. And that’s when I was able to ring the doorbell, and show up with a pizza. No cooking required.
And now, I’ve got some deliveries to make…..
